Twelve is a special number to our brand as it symbolizes the Twelve Apostles in Australia where our abalone originates from.
We also took inspiration from the twelve Chinese zodiac signs as abalone is a traditional Chinese delicacy commonly eaten during Chinese New Year festivities and celebrations.
There are also twelve months in a year, twelve days of Christmas, two groups of twelve hours in a day and the list goes on...
More significant to us, the processing factory for Twelve Abalone is registered under ‘EX12’ in Australia.

Joseph Louis Milani, also known as 'Joe' Milani, has firmly established himself as a leader in Australia's canning industry for the past 44 years. Joe has vast experience in Food Canning Technology and is a consultant to numerous global companies providing technical support for heat sterilized food in steel or flexible packaging.
Conceptualized in 1989 and established in 1991, Joe founded Southern Canning Pty Ltd located in Portland, Australia and quickly became one of the world's leader in processing of Australian seafood specializing in heat canning and flexible pouches. Registered as 'EX12' under Australian Government Export Authority, the abalone brand 'TWELVE' was created in 2020.

Each of our Australian wild abalone is caught by hand and carefully selected by our processing managers using a series of quality gradings in order to bring you only the best quality abalone.
Each abalone then goes through a stringent process of cooking and canning using our state-of-the-art technology and signature brine.
